Carpentry is a skilled trade in which the primary work performed is the cutting, shaping, and installation of building materials during construction of buildings, Carpenters traditionally worked with natural wood and did the rougher work such as framing, but today many other materials are also used[1] and sometimes the finer trades of cabinetmaking and furniture building are considered carpentry. We offer everything from simple things as installing baseboard through to walk-in closets that involve laying out shelving and drawers and racks to suit and tailor your needs.
One of the most common things homeowners do when doing carpentry services in Mississauga changes the baseboards. Baseboards come in many different shapes/profiles and size 3 1/2 inches all the way to 7 inches high. Baseboards can have many different profiles from a very simple radius on the top to a deep grooved pattern cut.
Standard Baseboard ProfilesThese one-piece baseboard profiles are used in many new homes and are easy to find at home stores and lumberyards. They can also be used as backer boards for crown molding and chair rails.Sizes are available from about 2½ to about 8 inches wide so a suitable piece can be found for just about any application.
Prehung Door Installation
The next popular item will be to replace doors and entire doors and frames (prehung). Many homes have the original doors and frames from the 1960s and 70s that are still flat slab doors. Flat slab doors are boring to look at and have no designs on them. Likewise with the door casings which are normally 3 1/2 inches wide with just bullnose edges. There are a number of ways that one could dress up this type of flat plain ordinary door. Trim molding could be installed over top of the door in different configurations to give the door some design.
The problem is though when doors have been in for years and years they not only look bad the building has shifted the point where the doors do not close or open properly and there are gaps between the door and the jamb which cannot be adjusted anymore easily. And it's times like this when the door and door casings have to be entirely removed and a new prehung door has to be installed that can be readjusted to proper dimensions ensuring that the door closes properly and is evenly spaced and gapped all the way around.
